The Bailey Estate
Buildings 1 & 2 opened in October 1928. The buildings emulated the style of high-class Manhattan apartment houses of the time, with apartments up to four bedrooms in size, and such desirable features as sunrooms, butlers pantries, maids accomodations and four exposures. Ceilings heights were nine feet, and an astounding twelve feet in first floor apartments.
Two years after the first phase opened, Buildings 3 & 4 were completed. These apartments differed from the earlier buildings, but still maintained the gracious layouts, large rooms and attractive prewar details.
Park Lane has also been home to notable persons. Arthur Murray, the dance impressario, had two aprtments converted into a studio which still exists today. The second famous personage is American Band Stand's Dick Clark, who grew up in Park Lane in the 1930's and 1940's.
A Dreamy Walk in the Shade!
Today Park Lane still is the most desirable property in Mount Vernon, and offers not only spacious Country Apartment Homes, but beautifully maintained grounds with mature specimen plantings, attractive drives, paths and out door seating areas.
An active Board of Directors carefully watches over the property, and has proactively made the repairs and upgrades necessary to keep Park Lane "Westchester's Beauty Spot!"
